You will partner with business stakeholders, data scientists, and product managers to translate complex data challenges into elegant, scalable solutions that accelerate time‑to‑value and unlock new revenue streams.
Your influence will extend beyond IT – you will be a strategic partner to executive leadership, shaping the data strategy that drives product innovation, customer engagement, and operational excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of 10‑15 data engineers, platform specialists, and analytics professionals. Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and high accountability.
- Strategic Architecture: Design and evolve the end‑to‑end data architecture that powers customer insights, from ingestion pipelines to data lakes, warehouses, and analytics dashboards.
- Project Delivery & Governance: Oversee the full project lifecycle—requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment—ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery with rigorous quality controls.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between IT, business units, and external partners, translating business needs into technical solutions and vice versa.
- Service Management & Reliability: Implement ITIL‑aligned processes to guarantee platform uptime, incident response, change management, and continuous improvement.
- Innovation & Emerging Tech: Evaluate and pilot new technologies—AI/ML, cloud services, data virtualization—to keep brighthush at the forefront of industry innovation.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure all data solutions meet regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, PCI‑DSS) and internal security standards, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to reduce latency and cost.
- Budget & Resource Management: Manage the team’s budget, forecast resource needs, and negotiate with vendors to maximize ROI.
- Change Leadership: Champion a culture of change readiness, guiding teams through new processes, tools, and organizational shifts.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of progressive leadership experience in IT, data engineering, or analytics, with a proven track record of managing cross‑functional teams.
- Strong background in designing and deploying large‑scale data platforms (data lakes, warehouses, real‑time streaming).
- Hands‑on expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery).
- Deep understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, PCI‑DSS).
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable, high‑performance data solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the insurance or financial services industry, particularly in customer data management.
- Knowledge of AI/ML pipelines and data science workflows.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, or similar.
- Experience leading remote or distributed teams.
- Background in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for data workloads.
Skills & Competencies
- Technical Leadership: Ability to guide teams through complex technical challenges while maintaining a clear vision.
- Strategic Thinking: Capacity to align data initiatives with broader business objectives.
- Project Management: Proficiency in Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies.
