Position Overview

As the Veterinary Customer Development Consultant within the Brighthush US Pet Health Business Unit, you will serve as the technical anchor and strategic partner for our Inside Sales team. Your role mirrors that of a field‑based Regional Consulting Veterinarian but is focused on virtual engagement, digital channels, and inside sales collaboration. You will deliver high‑impact scientific education, product consultation, and clinical objection handling to veterinary practices, corporate veterinary accounts, and our inside sales representatives through phone, video platforms, and virtual webinars.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial & Technical Partnership (Inside Sales Support)

  • Act as the dedicated clinical and technical subject‑matter expert for the Inside Sales team across key therapeutic areas—parasiticides, therapeutics, vaccines, and pain management.
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales representatives on high‑value outbound and inbound virtual customer interactions, providing consultative technical support and overcoming clinical hurdles.
  • Deliver agile, real‑time technical answers and clinical context that empower Inside Sales reps to drive brand conversion, customer loyalty, and revenue growth.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Brighthush product portfolios, competitor offerings, emerging veterinary trends, and peer‑reviewed literature to ensure scientific credibility.
  • Participate in quarterly sales strategy meetings, providing insights on product positioning, market trends, and customer feedback.

2. Virtual Customer Education & Engagement

  • Design and deliver engaging, high‑impact virtual lunch‑and‑learns, continuing education webinars, staff training sessions, and product presentations to veterinary hospital staff, practice managers, and veterinarians.
  • Master virtual engagement tools (Zoom, Teams, Webex) and presentation techniques to create compelling, interactive digital learning environments.
  • Support pre‑launch, launch, and post‑launch technical campaigns for new and existing Brighthush product lines within the Inside Sales footprint.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing team to develop multimedia content—slides, videos, infographics—that enhances learning outcomes.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from virtual sessions to continuously improve content quality and relevance.

3. Medical Acumen & Training

  • Maintain an advanced level of technical proficiency and scientific literacy regarding Brighthush products, competitor profiles, emerging veterinary trends, and peer‑reviewed literature.
  • Partner with Pet Health Training Managers to design and deliver technical training modules that elevate the clinical acumen of Inside Sales specialists.
  • Uphold strict regulatory, medical, and ethical standards across all commercial interactions, including limited, process‑directed triage for adverse event and product performance inquiries.
  • Serve as a resource for internal teams on product updates, regulatory changes, and best practices for veterinary communication.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or equivalent) from an AVMA‑accredited veterinary program.
  • Licensure: Active, unencumbered veterinary license to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical veterinary practice experience in companion animal or mixed animal practice (with a companion animal focus), or equivalent experience within the animal health industry as a technical consultant.
  • Virtual Fluency: Proven experience communicating complex scientific/medical data effectively over phone, video conference platforms (Teams, Zoom), and virtual webinars.
  • Agility & Planning: Strong self‑direction, time management, and organizational skills with the ability to manage high‑volume daily virtual interactions with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications & Differentiators

  • Consultative Influence: Demonstrated track record of partnering with commercial/sales teams to educate customers and influence prescribing behavior through scientific differentiation.
  • Digital Presentation Mastery: Exceptional verbal, written, and multimedia presentation skills, with proven ability to maintain audience engagement in remote/digital settings.
  • Experience with veterinary practice management software (e.g., Vetware, Cornerstone) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Knowledge of veterinary regulatory frameworks (FDA, USDA, state veterinary boards) and product labeling requirements.
  • Fluency in additional languages (Spanish, French, Mandarin) is a plus.

Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Strategic Thinking – Ability to align technical expertise with business objectives and sales strategies.
  • Communication Excellence – Clear, concise, and persuasive communication across multiple channels.
