Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Beacon Hill is recruiting for an unnamed large enterprise organization seeking a Senior Manager, Application Development. The role leads the architecture and delivery of enterprise applications, APIs, integrations, and cloud solutions while providing hands-on technical direction and managing an engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise applications and modernization initiatives
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across Java, APIs, microservices, AWS, and AI-enabled solutions
- Develop high-level and low-level solution designs and ensure successful technical implementation
- Lead and mentor a team of approximately 5-7 engineering resources
- Drive projects and larger technical initiatives from design through production delivery
- Partner with product, architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders
- Lead development of cloud applications using modern AWS architecture patterns
- Drive adoption of microservices, event-driven architecture, reusable services, and API-first design
- Oversee enterprise API and integration design, development, security, and governance
- Support adoption of AI-assisted development tools and AI-powered applications/workflows
- Champion Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, quality engineering, and observability best practices
Skills
- 10+ years of progressive software engineering/application development experience
- 5+ years of technical leadership and/or engineering management experience
- Strong hands-on architecture and solution design experience
- Strong development background with Java and Spring Boot
- Extensive experience with REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations
- Strong experience designing and implementing cloud solutions on AWS
- Experience with event-driven and distributed application architectures
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Ability to lead complex technical programs from architecture/design through execution
- Experience leading distributed engineering teams
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery and modern software engineering practices
- Exposure to AI-assisted software development, AI agents, or intelligent workflow automation
- Previous experience within a highly regulated enterprise environment
- Experience with healthcare-related technology or platforms is a plus
- Experience with AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Amazon Q, or similar technologies
