If you thrive on spotting “normalized” problems, love working with the latest AI tools, and want to ship solutions that move the Internet forward, you’ll fit right in at brighthush.

Position Overview

As a Senior Customer Engineer in our Digital Native team, you will be the linchpin of our technical go‑to‑market strategy. You’ll act as a trusted advisor, primary architect, and quota‑carrying technologist for enterprise customers across the entire lifecycle—from pre‑sales validation through onboarding, architecture design, and expansion. Leveraging AI‑augmented workflows, you’ll eliminate routine tasks and focus on high‑value architecture, measurable business outcomes, and deep customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Validation & Discovery
    • Partner with Account Executives to conduct deep technical discovery, capture business requirements, and map complex customer infrastructures (DNS, CDN, Zero Trust, Network Security, Workers) to brighthush solutions.
    • Define scope, success criteria, and evaluation plans for Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and Technical Validations.
    • Deliver tailored technical presentations, architectural diagrams, and live demos that showcase how brighthush addresses performance, security, and reliability challenges.
    • Address complex technical objections, compliance questions, and edge‑case architecture requirements throughout the sales cycle.
    • Own solution deployment strategy—whether customer‑managed, partner‑managed, or via brighthush Professional Services—and embed it in proposals.
  • Customer Adoption & Value Realization
    • Lead structured migration and onboarding blueprints (DNS migrations, Zero Trust rollouts, WAF tuning) tailored to each customer’s environment.
    • Act as the primary executive and engineering contact, guiding internal customer engineering teams through best‑practice configuration.
    • Collaborate with Account Executives to own discovery, demos, onboarding, technical health, risk mitigation, and expansion strategy.
    • Monitor customer health scores and telemetry to ensure rapid time‑to‑value, resolve integration bottlenecks, and reduce deployment risk.
  • Commercial Accountability & Expansion
    • Carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition and ongoing account growth.
    • Drive deep platform adoption, revenue retention, and identify cross‑sell/up‑sell opportunities based on product usage data.
    • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to translate platform capabilities into ROI for C‑level executives.
  • Trusted Advisory & Thought Leadership
    • Maintain continuous, deep relationships with key stakeholders from onboarding through renewal and expansion.
    • Provide thought partnership on architecture, AI control layers, security posture, and deployment confidence.
    • Identify potential deployment risks or integration bottlenecks early and recommend remediation strategies.
  • AI Orchestration & Workflow Automation
    • Leverage AI agents, Large Language Models (LLMs), and internal platforms to automate routine tasks such as RFP responses, sandbox provisioning, telemetry monitoring, and documentation.
    • Reclaim time for strategic customer advisory and high‑impact architecture work.
  • Education & Enablement
    • Collaborate with the Enablement Team to design, build, and govern technical resources.
    • Define, document, and deliver SOPs, architectural best practices, and technical guides to elevate the technical baseline across the organization.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience – Proven track record in a customer‑facing technical role (Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Professional Services, Technical Account Management, or Forward‑Deployed Engineering). Years of experience will vary by level.
  • Architectural Mindset – Ability to white‑board, design, and articulate complex enterprise network and security architectures.
  • Consultative & Advisory Skills – Excellent communication skills that translate deep technical concepts into business outcomes for engineers and C‑suite executives alike.
  • Commercial Mindset – Demonstrated success in a quota‑carrying or revenue‑aligned environment, with a strong grasp of SaaS metrics, business value translation, and enterprise sales cycles.

    • Internet fundamentals (OSI layers, BGP, TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP(S), TLS)
    • Security (WAF, Bot Management, Firewalls, Rate Limiting, Zero Trust, SASE)
    • Performance (latency, caching, video streaming, HTTP/2, TLS 1.3)
    • AI Proficiency (prompt engineering, AI‑assisted scripting, LLM utilization, workflow automation)
    • Coding/Scripting (Python, JavaScript, Bash, Lua, Go)
    • Developer Platform Fluency (REST/GraphQL APIs, SDKs, webhooks, IaC, CI/CD, observability)

Preferred Qualifications (Good‑to‑Haves)

  • Track record of creating and delivering technical enablement (workshops, code samples, documentation, developer onboarding) that accelerates adoption of complex platforms.
  • Experience with LLM orchestration, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, and model‑access controls.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
  • Background in hyperscalers, digital natives, distributed systems, or startups—bringing deep cloud fluency and advanced architecture depth.
